At the end of October, over Fall break we had to make a trip to visit our friendly family orthodontist who lives just outside of Las Vegas. So, we decided to go ahead and see a few things in Las Vegas. We really had mixed feelings about this.. Las Vegas is definitely not my first choice for a family get away.
Funny thing... Steve's work buddies and families decided to come along with us. And we spent a fun evening together.
Checking out the fountains at the Bellagio... Eric couldn't come because he had to work....
Our boys enjoy hanging out with the lovely Gentil sisters (pronounced Jzhentee) from France....
Here are the kids in the group... The other family are the Aragons from Peru.
Everything in Las Vegas is so big.. Jacob thought so too!
Hiking down the strip....
Our boys couldn't wait to get off the strip and back to the safety and security of our room.
Funny thing is after a "lovely" evening on the strip in Las Vegas, apparently our boys felt a great need to return to our room and read the scriptures together..
A special place for Jacob to sleep.
And.... after our brief view of the world... the boys were anxious to talk about how wonderful it is to know what they know and live within the safety of standards and commandments... It was good in a way for them to see and especially "feel" the difference. But, gee.. Las Vegas is still as repulsive to me as ever... and now to our boys too.
Ok... we really lucked out! And the staff of the Paris Hotel were especially good to us.. They gave us this three bathroom, 2 bedroom suite for about $120.00! Everything was extra extra nice and this hotel was more subdued than some of the other hotels we happened to walk through. It was very European and that was atleast fun.
One of the bedrooms...
Ok... it was kind of fun... Our suite is one floor of that whole middle section....the one with six windows and I have to admit it was pretty sweet!
Relaxing at the foot of the replica of the Eiffel Tower in the jetted tub...
After a day and a half in Las Vegas we were anxious to escape to stay with Steve's cousin Brian and his wife Janet and their cute family. The first night with them we went to a school carnival and Jacob and Michael even dressed up!
Jacob tried his hand as a ventriloquist. (I have no idea how to spell that ha ha!)
And Jacob dressed as pirate.
All in all.. our UEA getaway was fun... and relaxing! And it was especially great to see family ..oh and get the braces adjusted.
Then it was back to Utah for Halloween week! It was a full week of parties, trick or treating at Steve's office, ward trunk and treat, Halloween parade and you can thank me that I won't bore you with a thousand pictures... but here is our group after they carved their pumpkins........ minus Jon who was hanging out with friends :(
Jacob was a zombie....
At the Ward Trunk and Treat...
Jon was some kind of guy from Mario brothers... and another boy in the ward happened to show up as the other guy in Mario Cart... I guess I don't really know much about this....
But, Steve got into this too and was a Mario Cart guy....
And that about wraps up October at our house... you know... it is mostly just fast and furious... busy ... and the weeks just fly by!
Love you all... I am going to add our November news in the next couple of days...
How about you? I want to see what Halloween was like at your house... and see a few other things you have been doing! C 'mon! This is one way to stay connected and be a part of each other's lives... p
